OUR BUSINESS 01
Home Our Business Documentation
At CDS Co., Ltd., we believe that our mission is to use document media to give shape to the ambitions of everyone who participates in product development, and communicate the ideas embodied in those products to each and every user.We handle a range of document media (from documentation through to video) required in the processes by which our customers plan, develop, and manufacture their products.
Our products come in a range of forms tailored to the needs of our customers, including the instruction manuals that accompany products when they are sold, service manuals and other repair manuals, promotional videos used for sales promotions, e-learning materials for product training, and web content. We also provide translations for international use and offer multilingual localization services to support our customers' efforts to take their products to the international market.
CDS is able to offer complete support for any process.
We are able to offer customers proposals from the early stages in development when product concepts have yet to be set, and make suggestions that take account of customer needs, offering support in numerous forms. Many businesses with which we have a long-standing relationship entrust us with tasks such as the creation of internal documentation, which require speed, understanding, and trust.
We create instruction manuals that offer easy-to-understand explanations on product use.
Although the elements required in instruction manuals for the general consumer differ from those needed in manuals for professionals, by striving for easy-to-understand explanations in both, we hope to clearly convey the intents and desires that developers put into their products.
Moreover, for customers who seek a new outlook free from the preconceptions of their own companies or industries, we offer proposals that utilize examples and viewpoints from other industries and business circles, based on the wealth of business successes that are our strength.
We create technical manuals for use when performing repair and maintenance on products.
CDS possesses the know-how needed to read and understand technical materials such as product specifications and diagrams created by designers and developers, and then through examinations of the actual physical product and visits to the workplace, authors manuals that allow service staff to perform their work correctly.
Since this requires that the product configuration and operating principles be understood correctly, we focus on training our staff to have a thorough knowledge of our customers' products.
We provide assistance in a wide variety of industries that request both instruction manuals and service manuals, ranging from vehicles to medical devices, household electrical appliances, precision equipment, industry machinery, factory automation machinery, and communications equipment.
We are capable of operating world-wide, and of multilingual translation of documents of all kinds.
In order to provide accurate translation of unusual language such as industry and specialist terms or technical vocabulary, we operate a unique resource management and selection system in which translators with a range of backgrounds and experience are registered.
We also utilize translation assistance tools that allow us to reduce cost and standardize expressions by referring to and re-using existing translations.
We work with over 70 languages from countries around the world.
Digital content creation
CDS creates materials for in-house presentations and content for promotions, with documents of all types available in both paper and digital form.
We leverage the know-how we have gained through document creation to organize any information required in place of our customers, supporting the entire content creation process from scenario creation and storyboarding through to information collecting and editing.
CDS' abilities are further enhanced by our in-house engineering department, where we can make effective use of 3D CAD design data to create high-quality CG and animations.
From paper to digital, and beyond. Planning and development of manuals that eliminate the need to search.
CDS aims to make documents and manuals that allow users to find what they are looking for with ease, and which will utilize intuitive operation to eliminate the act of searching in the future.
We offer creative initiatives and proposals to craft manuals that are closer to—or even part of—products, and which guide users to solutions.

CDS' strengths in the documentation business
An operations framework that allows inquiries to be made directly from the customer site
CDS provides support for the creation of documents that are aligned with customer needs, while offering proposals to aid with any difficulties or issues our customers encounter.
We do not possess a sales department, nor does we have sales positions. The staff who make proposals are all leaders or personnel with responsibilities in the workplace. We provide an operations framework that allows inquiries to be made directly from the customer site, ensuring that no gap arises between CDS and our customers.
A characteristic feature of our business practices lies in how we deepen our knowledge of customers and their products through an ongoing working relationship that allows us to help by offering advice on issues and problems without requiring the customer to explain everything from the start.

We seek out the passion behind the development of products,
and communicate the feelings and emotions that underlie manufacturing.
Documentation is a bridge between the end users of a product and its developers.
Manuals for products can take many different forms, from those for end users to those used for sales and marketing, production processes, and service and maintenance. Each requires different information, and thus we work with our customers to identify and solve their problems.
Who are these products good for, and in what way? It is our role at CDS to think from the users' standpoint, and to communicate the intentions of our customers in a readily comprehensible, visual manner. We possess the knowledge required to talk on an equal footing with our customers, and a spirit of inquiry that prompts us to query why things happen from a common viewpoint that allows us to offer proposals that add value and address customer problems, points that we believe have earned CDS esteem.
